Prof. Kin K. Leung

Biography: Kin K. Leung received his B.S. degree from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 1980, and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from University of California, Los Angeles, in 1982 and 1985, respectively. He joined AT&T Bell Labs in New Jersey in 1986 and worked at its successor companies until 2004. Since then, he has been the Tanaka Chair Professor in the Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), and Computing Departments at Imperial College in London. He serves as the Head of Communications and Signal Processing Group in the EEE Department at Imperial. His current research focuses on optimization and machine-learning techniques for system design and control of large-scale communication networks and computer infrastructures. He also works on multi-antenna and cross-layer designs for wireless networks.

He received the Distinguished Member of Technical Staff Award from AT&T Bell Labs in 1994, and was a co-recipient of the 1997 Lanchester Prize Honorable Mention Award. He was elected as a Fellow of the IEEE and IET in 2001 and 2021, respectively. He received the Royal Society Wolfson Research Merits Award from 2004 to 2009 and became a member of Academia Europaea in 2012. Jointly with his co-authors, he also received the IEEE ComSoc Leonard G. Abraham Prize (2021) and several best conference paper awards, including at the IEEE PIMRC 2012, ICDCS 2013 and ICC 2019. He serves as a member (2009-11) and the chairman (2012-15) of the IEEE Fellow Evaluation Committee for Communications Society. He was a guest editor for the IEEE JSAC, IEEE Wireless Communications and the MONET journal, and as an editor for the JSAC: Wireless Series, IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications and IEEE Transactions on Communications. Currently, he chairs the Steering Committee for the IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing and is an editor for the ACM Computing Survey and International Journal on Sensor Networks.

Prof. Min Chen

Biography: Min Chen is a full professor in School of Computer Science and Technology at Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) since Feb. 2012. He is the director of Embedded and Pervasive Computing Lab, and the director of Data Engineering Institute at HUST. He is the founding Chair of IEEE Computer Society Special Technical Communities on Big Data. He was an assistant professor in School of Computer Science and Engineering at Seoul National University before he joined HUST. He is the Chair of IEEE Globecom 2022 eHealth Symposium. His Google Scholar Citations reached 33,850+ with an H-index of 88. His top paper was cited 3,770+ times. He was selected as Highly Cited Researcher from 2018 to 2021. He got IEEE Communications Society Fred W. Ellersick Prize in 2017, and the IEEE Jack Neubauer Memorial Award in 2019. His research focuses on cognitive computing, 5G Networks, wearable computing, big data analytics, robotics, machine learning, deep learning, emotion detection, and mobile edge computing, etc. Min Chen is an IEEE Fellow.

Prof. Xiang-Gen Xia

Biography: Xiang-Gen Xia received his B.S. degree in mathematics from Nanjing Normal University, Nanjing, China, and his M.S. degree in mathematics from Nankai University, Tianjin, China, and his Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, in 1983, 1986, and 1992, respectively. He is currently the Charles Black Evans Professor, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Delaware, Newark, Delaware, USA. Dr. Xia was the Kumar’s Chair Professor Group Professor (guest) in Wireless Communications, Tsinghua University, during 2009-2011, the Chang Jiang Chair Professor (visiting), Xidian University, during 2010-2012, and the WCU Chair Professor (visiting), Chonbuk National University, during 2009-2013. Dr. Xia’s current research interests include space-time coding, MIMO and OFDM systems, digital signal processing, and SAR and ISAR imaging. He is the author of the book Modulated Coding for Intersymbol Interference Channels (New York, Marcel Dekker, 2000).

Dr. Xia received the National Science Foundation (NSF) Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Program Award in 1997, the Office of Naval Research (ONR) Young Investigator Award in 1998, and the Outstanding Overseas Young Investigator Award from the National Nature Science Foundation of China in 2001. He is currently serving and has served as an Associate Editor for numerous international journals including IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing, IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, and Science China -- Information Sciences. Dr. Xia is Technical Program Chair of the Signal Processing Symp., Globecom 2007 in Washington D.C. and the General Co-Chair of ICASSP 2005 in Philadelphia. He is a Fellow of IEEE.

Prof. Koichi Asatani

Biography: Koichi Asatani received his B.E.E.E., M.E.E.E. and Ph. D. degrees from Kyoto University in 1969, 1971 and 1974, respectively. From 1974 to 1997, he was with NTT and engaged in R&D on optical fiber communication systems, hi-definition video transmission systems, FTTH, ISDN, B-ISDN, ATM networks, IP Networks and their strategic planning. From 1997 to 2014, he served as Professor at Kogakuin University. From 1999 to 2012, he was with Graduate School of Global Information and Telecommunication, Waseda University as Visiting Professor.  He was Chair Professor, Nankai University, Tianjin, China for 2014-2018. He is currently Professor, Shanghai University, China, and also Professor Emeritus, Kogakuin University. He is Life Fellow of IEEE and Life Fellow of IEICE. He was appointed as Distinguished Lecturer of IEEE ComSoc for 2006-2008, 2011-2012, and 2013-2014.

He is Ex-Chair and Advisory Board Member of IEEE ComSoc TC on Communication Quality and Reliability (CQR-TC), Feature Editor on Standards (1993-1999), Senior Technical Editor (1999-2005) of IEEE Communications Magazine. From 1988 through 2000, he served as Vice-Chair of ITU-T SG 13, and Chair of a Working Party of SG13, responsible for digital networks including GII, IP networks, NGN and Future Networks.  He served as Chair for National Committee on Next Generation Networks in Japan. He also served as Chair, R&D and Standardizations Working Group, Next Generation IP Network Promotion Forum. He served as IEEE ComSoc Director, Membership Programs Development for 2014-2015. He served as Chair, IEEE ComSoc GIMS Committee for 2018-2019, and is IEEE ComSoc Fellow Evaluation Committee member for 2019-2021. He is serving as a Member at Large of Board of Governors, IEEE ComSoc. He also has been serving as a Board member, IEICE, and Chair, IEICE Standards Activities since 2014.

He served as various positions of numerous IEEE conferences, including General Chair of International CQR Workshop 1994, General Chair of International Symposium of Interworking 96, General Chair of SIIT2009, Symposium Co-Chair of Communications QoS, Reliability and Performance Modelling Symposium at ICC and Globecom (2002-2004), which he founded in 2002. He was Executive Chair at ICC2011 in Kyoto, Tutorial Co-Chair at ICC2016, and General Co-Chair at IEEE 5G Summits Tianjin (2016) and Tokyo (2017).

Prof. Anu Gokhale, Illinois State University, USA

Biography: Dr. Anu A. Gokhale has completed twenty-five years of university teaching and is currently a professor and coordinator of the computer systems technology program at Illinois State University. She is named Fulbright Distinguished Chair in STEM at the University of Pernambuco, Brazil, 2016-17; was a Faculty Fellow in Israel and Fulbright Specialist in cybersecurity at Gujarat Technological University, India in summer 2017; and a Visiting Professor in College of Business at Shandong University in Jinan, China during spring 2017. Dr. Gokhale was honored with the 2011 University Outstanding Researcher Award. Originally from India, she has a master's in physics electronics from the College of William & Mary, and a doctorate from Iowa State University. She presents and publishes her peer-reviewed research, and pursues multi-year projects funded by agencies like the US Department of Education, US Department of State, and National Science Foundation. The current NSF funded project is in Computing Education for the 21st Century. Dr. Gokhale authored a second edition of her book Introduction to Telecommunications, which has an international edition in Chinese. She continues to be an invited keynote speaker at various conferences, latest ones include: 2018 International Conference on Frontiers of Educational Technologies, Moscow, Russia; 2017 International Conference on Knowledge Engineering and Applications, London, UK; 2016 International Conference on Communication and Information Systems, Bangkok, Thailand; 2015 International Conference on Information Technology, Amman, Jordan; 2014 International Conference on Control, Robotics and Cybernetics, Singapore; and 2013 International Conference on Advanced Computer Theory and Engineering in Maldives. She consults for businesses and has delivered multiple workshops. As an active volunteer in IEEE, she has served as R4 Educational Activities Chair, Women in Engineering Coordinator, Chair of International Electro/Information Technology 2010 Conference, and MGA representative to the Educational Activities Board. She was honored with the IEEE Third Millennium Medal.

Prof. Anhui Liang, Shandong University of Science and Technology, China

Biography: Professor Anhui Liang is the second level professor, Shandong University of Science & Technology, China. He is a national high level talent. He held several positions, e.g. Chief Scientist, FiberHome Technologies; Chief Scientist, WTD; Deputy Director of University Academic Committee, Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications, and Tyco Submarine Systems Ltd. in USA etc. He has published more than 100 papers and patents. He has made significant contributions in the fields of optical fiber communications, vision, biological optical AI, quantum mechanics and Chinese meridian, chromosome optical fibers and biological fibers. He is China Overseas Chinese Contribution Award recipient (2014); Yearly Person of “Scientific Chinese”(2015). He has made significant contributions in 7 questions which were among 125 questions: exploration and discovery listed by Science journal. His contributions have been well reported in famous national media. His research topics have been interested in by wide audiences, and there are over 247 thousands of audiences in his two scientific lectures in last years.
